MMXI

Happy new years, belles!

Okay, so it’s still 2010. But I’m betting by the time that you read this, it will be NEXT YEAR.

Get used to writing the new date! Go practise a few times now; I’ll wait for you.

1/1/2011
1/1/2011
1/1/2011
etc etc.

I’m kind of weirded out that for four hours (because of the International Trip), I’ll be in a completely different year to all my family and most of my friends! CRAZY, NO?!

But for now, it’s time to get ready for dinner, so I’ll see you lovelies again in the new year! May it be a good one!!!

Fifty Things of 2010

So every year, I write a list of fifty things — highlights, fun things, milestones — that I’ve done the past two year. When I say “every year”, I mean the past two years, and you can see them here and here, on the blog I kept before I lost interest (ramblings of a highschool girl, haha. Quite a lot of stuff about NaNoWriMo, though, and Haiku Every Day in June).

I’ve actually had a really excellent year this year. That’s not to say that there hasn’t been things that might have gone better, or ended less than ideal, but whether because of the company I keep, or the relativity of whatever, it’s been a Good Year.

So without further ado,  here we go:

Guacamaioli!

So the other day, I was making chips, and I thought, “Do I want aioli with these chips? Or guacamole?” And then I hit my forehead and realised the answer was simple. I would make BOTH. And the result was delicious.

So I made some more today, and took some photos, and had a delicious lunch with homemade chips, guacamaioli (a term I may have just coined? A quick Google search brought up avacado aiolis, but nothing for “guacamaioli” itself), and a tomato, cherry and mint salad.

Keep reading for the recipes! Continue reading

About that Overseas Trip…

Rememer how I was going to be going overseas? I even gave an advanced apology for the lack of posts.

You may have noticed that I have, indeed, been posting since then.

And this is why:

So now I’m going after Christmas 🙂

Erika Iris Simmons

Today my buddy Alana and I were doing a little browsing, and we came across the artworks of Erika Iris Simmons. And the first thing I thought (other than “WOW”) was that I HAD to share these works with you readerfriends.

Ghost in the Machine- Marilyn's White Dress
I love how film stars are created in film…

Beethoven: Ready for framing
… and composers out of sheet music…

Ghost in the Machine- Michael Jackson
… and the musicians out of cassettes!

Amazing, no? Have a look through the rest of the pieces!

All pictures are taken from Erika Iris Simmons’ flikr stream. No copyright breach is intended, and will be removed at the request of the artist.

I Just Won…

I just won “Dreaming of Chanel“, by Charlotte Smith, from a giveaway hosted by Lady Melbourne!

I’m so excited to recieve it; if “Dreaming of Dior” is anything to go by, I will be spending hours drinking in every detail of the illustrations, as well as the fun stories!

I bet this book would make a great Christmas present, too!

One day, when there are more that just my friends who I pay love me enough to read my blog, I will hold my own giveaway, and much happieness and excitement will be had by all!!

I Hope This Gets to You

It may only be an hour since I got out of bed, but this is the cutest thing I have seen all day.

Apparently, this guy has written this song for his girlfriend who has just become his long distance girlfriend. And she hasn’t seen it yet. She’s meant to find it through the joys of viral media.

I say “apparently” because there are cynics out there who say it’s just a scam. Which, you know, it might be. But I’m a hopeless romantic, and would really like it to be true.

Regardless, it’s super cute. Take a looksie!!
